?How it works
- Gas
- The unit Ethereum uses to measure work. A plain ETH transfer always uses 21,000 gas; contracts use more.
- Base fee
- Set by the protocol from how full recent blocks were, and burned. It rises when blocks are more than half full and falls when they are less.
- Priority tip
- Paid to the validator on top of the base fee. A higher tip gets a transaction included sooner when the network is busy.
- sat/vB
- Bitcoin fees are priced per virtual byte of transaction data, in satoshis (one hundred-millionth of a bitcoin).
